FAMILY LAKE RETREAT
Dane County, Wisconsin
KEE Architecture provided interior design and interior architecture services. Designed for an active family, the cabin has an open plan that supports a variety of activities as it is located on a lake.
Earth tones, with water-inspired accent colors, create a warm, comfortable living space, which reinforces that home’s relationship to the water’s edge. The granite breakfast bar countertop in the kitchen reflects the color of the water as its shape parallels the geometry of the house. Durable materials such as wood, stone, and metal were selected that require little maintenance, stand up to rigorous use, and will look better with age.
The interior architecture emphasizes the rhythm and patterns of construction. Carefully placed douglas fir walls screen the stairway and blend it into the architecture. The douglas fir is used throughout the space as a finish material that references the exposed wood structure.
