Situated within this rugged and irregular wooded landscape, the design emphasizes utility, structural expression, and conformity to natural surroundings. The robust exterior is primitive in appearance with stone masonry walls embedded into the earth, vertical log siding, log columns and stick-style railings, while the interior is more refined with plaster walls and exposed lumber. The expressive frame was built with great care and pride and is a tribute to the talent and skills of the local craftsmen.

Dubbed the "gothic cottage" by it's owners, the design offers a sense of refuge and of permanence within the towering pines of the forest, while evoking a mystical, impish sense of play. Family and friends gather to enjoy canoeing, swimming and fishing activities that center on the beach area with its casual seating and fire pit.
