Madison, Wisconsin

The mass and weight of tilt-up construction provides significant energy savings through the flywheel effect of the thick concrete walls. External shading devices combined with broad roof extensions help achieve a healthy connection with the outdoors while providing protection from harsh solar penetration and consequent heat build-up. The wooded character of the site was preserved by placing half of the parking stalls beneath the building.
