KICKAPOO VALLEY RESERVE VISITOR CENTER
La Farge, Wisconsin
The Kickapoo Valley Reserve is located in the heart of the ‘driftless’ (unglaciated) area of Southwest Wisconsin. The 8,500 acre site was slated as the site of a large dam and reservoir until environmental concerns caused the project to be permanently delayed. The Reserve features unique natural and cultural resources in the Kickapoo River Valley and includes numerous recreational activities. The 8,000 square foot Visitor Center serves as the gateway for visitors as well as the administrative headquarters for staff, with offices, classrooms and exhibition space. Natural materials, including some harvested from within the Reserve, connect building with site, as do exterior decks and viewing platforms.
