UW-Oshkosh Elmwood
Elmwood Commons began its life in 1966 as the sole dining hall at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. In 2002, foodservice was relocated to a new facility, and Elmwood served as temporary space for offices of various administrative and academic departments. Following discussion about whether the building should be remodeled or be demolished and replaced with a new facility, the renovation (remodeling and addition) approach prevailed.
KEE Architecture was the Prime A/E for the UW-Oshkosh Elmwood Center project, providing programming and architectural design services. KEE lead a team of consultants including plumbing, mechanical/electrical, geotechnical and site/civil.
The Student Success/Elmwood Center has met the challenges of renovating an existing building while providing important programmed spaces. It has become a new, environmentally friendly landmark on the UW-Oshkosh campus, achieving LEED® Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.® It has also been recognized by the State of Wisconsin with an Excellence in Sustainable Design Award.
